Cat Power Soundbites.
I really knew this was what I was supposed to do when I saw Aretha Franklin sing “Amazing Grace.” But it wasn’t that huge a leap, as my dad’s a musician. It was because it seemed the normal thing to do.
There are definitely things that I cannot believe that I have done. Like getting a pedicure today-unbelievable.
I’m more of a dog person. I love cats too, but the cat has to be really open, like Jell-o. I think that’s why I relate more to dogs, because they really look at you. With a cat, you have to go look at me! C’mon, let’s connect! And they could give a shit.
Mean people suck. And they know they suck. That’s why they like having a title and empowerment.
Yes, it’s true. I’ve always wanted to be a comedian. Best joke? A sheep dressed in wolf’s clothing walks into a bar and says, “Hey, guys,it’s me.” Just kidding. No, it doesn’t make any sense.
I have a Bible by my bed. If something gets weird I read it. It distracts me because it’s like, “The sea is green and sometimes it’s blue, and the cow goes moo.”
Everything’s everything, it’s all relative, it doesn’t matter-like if I were to whip my tits out or something. Although I wouldn’t do that, because I’m shy.
What food do I see myself as? I could see myself as a steak, but with some red wine, maybe.
Greatest fears? Myself, fear and other humans.
If I wasn’t [playing music], I’d still be in Atlanta and probably have two kids by different fathers, be on welfare, and a drug addict. My life would be very different.
